Gold Star 500

They say that “a Hero dies twice ~ once when the last breath leaves their body, and again when their name is spoken for the last time”. The Gold Star Mission strives to preserve the memories and ensure the names of our nearly 300 Fallen Illinois Service Men and Women live on!

Dates: 20-24 September 2022
Summary: The Sixth Annual Gold Star 500, a five day, 520+ mile endurance bicycling event through central and northern Illinois. The ride will stop in numerous communities, engaging schools, veteran service organizations, faith based organizations, community leaders, other service oriented clubs, business/corporate sponsors, etc. This ride is an awareness and fundraising campaign to Honor and Preserve the memories of our Fallen Heroes.
Galesburg Impact: The Gold Star 500 riders and support teams will be staying the night (Wednesday 21 September 2022) in the Galesburg Army National Guard Armory, after arriving in town late Tuesday afternoon (from Quincy, Macomb). The team will depart Galesburg Thursday morning at 0700 am, for Rock Island, before staying the night in Rock Falls (National Guard Armory).
