The release of the nation’s county health rankings shows Knox County still struggling in several categories but impressing when it comes to clinical care.
The rankings come from the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute.
Knox is ranked 78 in health outcomes and health factors but 19 out of 102 counties when it comes to clinical care.
Knox County has more care providers per citizen in the fields of dentistry and mental health care than they did last year.
Primary care physicians however dropped slightly with now their being one doctor per 1,410 residents.
Numbers show that Knox went from 13 percent without health insurance to 9 percent, but that figure is still within the margin of error.
Warren County is fairing better ranked at 35 and Henry County even better at 24 in health outcomes.
Categories where Knox stands out doing considerably worse than Henry and Warren includes teen birth rate, low income access to food stores and sexually transmitted infections.
