Meet May’s KFM Teacher of the Month-2024

Congratulations to May’s KFM Teacher of the MonthEaston Schaber — a history teacher at Abingdon/Avon High School. Easton was nominated by Nicholas Prescott a student in Easton’s class.  As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Easton receives the Big Red Apple Award with his name engraved on it from Lacky Monuments along with a $100 gift card from Tompkins State Bank and a bouquet from Cooks-N-Company.  Here’s what Nicholas had to say about Easton:

What sets this teacher apart from others?
This teacher set up a FCA group and helped grow a spiritual community in Abingdon. This teacher has come up with interesting class assignments like a simulation of trench warfare in WW1. This teacher has cared for us students like we are his own kids. Outside of school he helps with the football and track team. Helping students of all grade levels hit their full potential. He has been an inspiration and person you can lean on. He makes a lot of sacrifices for all of us and we are thankful for it. Goes above and beyond even when his personal life gets hectic.

What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?
This teacher spends hours helping athletes train and recover from injuries. He gives up time every day to help people stretch, workout, and grow. He’s always there to help no matter what is going and who you are.

Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child.
This teacher has helped when I have gone down injured. I was in a lot of pain and wasn’t listening well. He quickly ran over calmed me down and helped ease my pain quickly. He slowly helped me get up and get me walking again. He even offered to pick me up and carry to camp if I needed it. He acted quickly and caringly. He then checked on me throughout the day when he saw me in school and worked to help me recover and get moving again during this track season.

Congratulations Easton Schaber from Nissan of Galesburg, Tompkins State Bank, Cooks-n-Company, Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM
