KFM’s Teacher of the Month-April 2024

Congratulations to April’s KFM Teacher of the MonthLori Ettinger — a biology teacher at Galesburg High School. Tracy was nominated by Alissa and Kaidence Shultz who are students in her class.  As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Lori receives the Big Red Apple Award with her name engraved on it from Lacky Monuments along with a $100 gift card from Tompkins State Bank and a bouquet from Cooks-N-Company.  Here’s what Alissa and Kaidence had to say about Lori:

What sets this teacher apart from others?

She goes above and beyond for her students. If she notices we are struggling she stays after school or has them come to her advocacy.

What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?

She sits and listens to me when I have non class related problems for example if my mental health is lagging she let’s me vent to her and makes me feel better. She has helped settle disagreements between me and my boyfriend. She is just a great listener and is never judgmental like some of the other teachers.

Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child.

She wrote a wonderful recommendation letter to the college I am going to next year to help me get in. She goes way beyond what my IEP says for help. She gives all her students encouragement to be more then they think they can be. She never let’s us doubt or second guess ourselves.

Congratulations Lori Ettinger from Nissan of Galesburg, Tompkins State Bank, Cooks-n-Company, Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM
