Unwanted subject gets arrested for resisting, Knox County Warrant

Galesburg police responded to a domestic call Thursday, August 27th  in regards to an unwanted subject. Upon arrival to the residence on E. Knox Street, officers advised the caller that if the subject returned, to contact police. Officers remained in the area, and eventually observed the male subject that matched the caller’s description walking towards the back of the residence. Officers made contact with the subject – 32-year-old Joseph Hansel of Galesburg in the backyard and advised him to respond to the officer’s location. Hansel then took off running on foot. It took less than a block before Hansel was worn-out and laid on the ground. He was escorted to a patrol car where he continued to resist arrest and officers advised he would be pepper-sprayed. After he responded with “spray me”, officers pepper-sprayed him. Hansel was then detained, searched, and transported to the Knox County Jail charged with resisting a peace officer and a Knox County Warrant.
