No injuries in Wednesday Mulberry Street fire

No injuries were reported in an afternoon fire on Mulberry Street yesterday afternoon.

Galesburg firefighters from all three stations responded to a structure fire at 1430 Mulberry at around 12:34 where flames were reportedly showing from the rear of the structure.

Upon arrival, crews noted smoke showing from all sides of the structure and flames coming from two sides. Galesburg police officers had arrived on the scene first and reported that all occupants of the home had gotten out.

Acting Battalion Chief Jeff Maher assumed command and fire crews from the Brooks Street and Central Fire Stations coordinated to quickly put out the majority of the blaze.

To provide emergency coverage for the city, an emergency callback of the preceding shift was initiated.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being undergone at this time.
