A Sunday evening traffic stop lead to a pair of arrests.

A simple lack of a front license plate leads to arrests for a local pair. Sunday, July 26th, around 8:20 pm, according to police reports, Galesburg Police pulled over a Pontiac coupe in the 700 block of Mulberry Street for a missing front placard. The driver, 40-year old Amanda Brunswig of Monmouth was E-cited for no proof of insurance and the missing front plate. While checking for any outstanding warrants, Officers conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle with assistance from a Knox County Sheriff K9 unit. The K9 alerted to the presence of contraband near the passenger side of the vehicle where 44-year old Adrian Pettis of Galesburg was sitting. A search of Pettis turned up a red vile used to store methamphetamine that field-tested positive. Pettis was placed under arrest for Possession of Meth less than 5 grams. A search of the vehicle turned up a purse under the driver seat that contained a Liberty brand handgun and 8 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Brunswig was then placed under arrest for Unlawful Use of Weapons and Violation of the FOID Card Act. Both were eventually transported to the Knox County Jail.
