Knox County Unified Command deactivates EOC with Phase 4

The Knox County Unified Command is deactivating as Knox and the rest of Illinois move into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan Friday.

The Unified Emergency Operations Center was activated on Mar. 17, and since then multiple agencies have been working together and meeting regularly to monitor testing and cases of COVID-19.

Health officials will still continue to monitor activities, testing, and the health of the community.

Going forward news releases and dashboard updates will occur once per week on Tuesdays.

And they emphasize that deactivation should NOT be taken as meaning that COVID-19 is not a threat or that residents are no longer at risk for infection.

The community health leaders say the possibility of transmission in our area still exists.

The Emergency Operations Center was made up of representatives from a variety of agencies that represent the community. Some of those include District 205, City of Galesburg, Knox County, local hospitals, and ambulance service.

The Unified Command also reminds residents to use trusted sources for the latest info on COVID-19 like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
