U of I Extension hosting Six-County FastPitch

If you’re an entrepreneur, business owner, or looking to get a boost in your next venture or invention, there is an event coming up that you may be interested in. The event comes around every three years. It’s the Six-county Fast Pitch Competition that includes Knox, Warren, Henderson, Henry, Mercer and Stark Counties.
Participants that are eligible will have five minutes to pitch an idea to a panel of judges. Those participating will compete in the different categories: Existing Business Expansion, New Manufacturing/Fabrication, New Retail/Service, and Student Entrepreneur. That afternoon the winners will be announced during an awards ceremony where they will receive notice of their prize packages. “Our prize package was worth over $75,000 the last time around and we intend to have more this time,” said Carrie McKillip with the U of I Extension. “That includes cash, advertising, business services, (and) some educational activities. It’s a great way for potential businesses to sort of flush out a business idea, present it to some experts, and get some input on how they can improve the concept.” There is no cost to apply. Applications are due by March 16th – the Fast Pitch Competition will be held Tuesday, May 12th. Visit the Six-County FastPitch website to apply.
