Warren County’s top prosecutor announced this week that he’s running for a circuit judge position in the Ninth Judicial Circuit.
Andrew Doyle, currently State’s Attorney in Warren County, is seeking the position that Judge Paul Mangieri vacated in July and is currently held by Judge Emily Sutton of Macomb. Sutton is also campaigning for the position.
Doyle was elected to the position in 2016 after serving as an attorney for the Village of Oquawka and — since 2013 — served as a special prosecutor in numerous cases in Henderson and Knox Counties.
Doyle says that he is uniquely qualified for the role as a Circuit Judge.
“The majority of cases that a Judge hears are criminal in nature and as a prosecutor, I am in court on a daily basis handling those cases. In addition, I also handle all civil issues related to the County, such as zoning, tax, real estate, employment, and everything in between.”
In 2019, he was elected by 21 State’s Attorneys from the third Appellate District in Illinois to serve as their representative on the Board of Governors. In this capacity, Doyle oversees all functions of the Appellate Prosecutors Office.
Doyle is a graduate of the University of Illinois and received his law degree from Northern Illinois University School of Law.
