Romance in Russia is alive and well, albeit incredibly bizarre. A man who survived being stabbed 13 times by his girlfriend did something completely unexpected in court last week. As the woman was testifying and trying to avoid being thrown in jail for six years, her boyfriend took everybody by surprise and proposed to her.
The man had spent three weeks in the hospital recovering from his stab wounds but asked the court to have mercy on his new fiance, who told the judge she wasn’t trying to kill her boyfriend and was just very drunk. The judge, trying to process the strange turn in events, adjourned the case and scheduled a new hearing. (Daily Mirror)
