One gun was recovered before two guns were reported stolen this weekend.
Galesburg police officers were called out to the 300-block of East Losey Street Sunday at about 9:46 in the morning for a handgun that was found in the front yard of a residence.
Police reports indicate that the yard was about to be mowed when the firearm was found. The handgun was described as being a chrome Cobra FS380 that was loaded with a round in the chamber and had a broken hand grip.
Indication is that based on the gun’s serial number, it had not been reported stolen.
Less than two hours later officers were called out to the 500-block of Peck Street where two guns were reported stolen from a gun cabinet.
According to police reports a 22-caliber revolver and a 16-gauge, bolt-action shotgun with a box magazine were taken.
The revolver was described as being blue with black grips, while the shotgun was a lighter colored wood.
The victim told officers she was in the process of moving over the last week and when she arrived to the house she found the guns missing.
