Rauner announces public infrastructure grant recipients

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced recipients of the Community Development Block Grant for Public Infrastructure last week. The federal funds will be distributed to 36 communities across 29 counties in the state totaling $14.5 million dollars. Local communities receiving funds for improvements, in Knox County, will be the City of Abingdon receiving $500,000 for sanitary sewer improvements. In Warren County, the City of Monmouth will receive $500,000 for water distribution improvements. In Mercer County, the Village of Joy will receive $500,000 for construction of a new elevated water storage tank. Governor Bruce Rauner in a news release said the “public infrastructure is important not only for day-to-day function of Illinoisans, but to bolster growth and economic development.”
