205 to consider approving naming rights for athletic complex, agreement with WITcon

A naming rights agreement that was discussed back in February could be approved tonight, which would see the athletic complex at Galesburg High School named the F&M Bank Stadium.

In a previous meeting, District 205 Superintendent John Asplund said that the process for selling the naming rights of the athletic complex had been in the works for three years.

The contract would all the bank to brand several promotional items and provide giveaways, sponsor contests, and sell concession items with the banks logo on them.

The school district stands to make $250,000 over the ten-year life of the contract. In a previous meeting it was said that the new money would be budgeted for buildings and grounds, or operation maintenance.

The District 205 Board of Education could approve an intergovernmental agreement with the educational conference known as Whatever It Takes Conference, or WITcon.

Membership to the annual conference is made up of Carl Sandburg College, District 205, the Professional Development Consortium of Regional Office of Education numbers 26 and 33.

The agreement would see the formation of an executive committee made up of three members from each entity to oversee the operation of the conference on a year-to-year basis.

The school board could also approve the registration and student fees for the 2018-19 school year. According to board documents, there are no planned changes in school fees with exception to the activity fees and for Driver’s Education.

The District could also approve the 2018-19 registration and student fees, and a request for a summer baseball trip from Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Pickrel.

The 205 school board meets tonight at the district’s facilities on Harrison Street at 7:00 p.m.
