Kate Bullis is a Galesburg native who has always wanted to open a storefront on main street in Galesburg. When Dan Olson decided to retire after 17 years of owning the Olson Paint Spot, Bullis saw her opportunity. “I (was) looking to move home back to Galesburg, and I was bouncing around a lot of ideas on how to settle back into the community and kind of make my own,” Bullis said. “When the opportunity came up for the paint shop….I would love to own my own shop on Main Street.” Bullis has been living in Indianapolis as an Event & Tourism Manager. She said her shop will exclusively sell Benjamin Moore paint. The thing she appreciates about Benjamin Moore is it’s commitment to community: it’s only sold in local shops and hardware stores, and it’s dedication to customer service. The shop will also have Corotech and Insulex industrial maintenance lines as well. Right now, Bullis is busy meeting with contractors and taking education courses to better serve her customers. The shop’s grand opening is Saturday, March 10th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm featuring Smokin’ Willy’s BBQ and giveaways from local downtown businesses – including a $500 giveaway from Benjamin Moore Paint. KWB Paints on Main will be open Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
