Knox County YMCA launches annual campaign to support community needs.

The Knox County YMCA is gearing up for its annual support campaign starting next Monday, March 5th. One key feature of the YMCA is not turning away potential members for lack of ability to pay for a membership. In a news release Knox County YMCA CEO Adam Sampson said, “as a charity” the Y is “dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen..” The Knox County YMCA has its sights on a goal to raise $150,000 this year. The Y strives to address community issues with programs. The annual campaign aims to support the Y’s Early Learning Center licensed daycare facility, the Y’s Before & After School care and the Y’s teen mentoring program known as Solutions. The YMCA’s donor campaign began earlier this month. Membership fees to the Y make up 60% of its revenue – keeping most of the programs supported and staffed. Every dollar that’s donated stays local and a pledge will go towards a parent’s fee in the before and after school program or early learning center. In a release, Sampson says that a donation can ensure a child in Knox County who wants to learn to swim can come to the Y and learn to swim.
