One woman arrested following a fight at Monkey Business

A Monmouth woman was arrested Saturday night, following a fight that took place at the downtown bar, Monkey Business.

While on patrol Galesburg police officers driving down E Simmons Street around midnight, discovered a fight taking place in the roadway between three females.

According to police reports, officers observed 24-year-old Allison R. Mesecher to be on top of a woman, battering her, while the third woman was attempting to separate them.

Officers approached them, instructing them to stop fighting and immediately attempted to place Mesecher in handcuffs.

Officers noted she had bloodshot, and glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol.

Allegedly she refused police instructions and resisted their attempts to restrain her.

After several attempts to restrain her peacefully, she would be forced to the ground and handcuffed.

Allegedly she continued to resist officers as she was taken to the squad car, eventually doing some cosmetic damage to the patrol vehicle.

Once inside the vehicle she continue to kick the door of the squad car and screaming. Officers warned her she would be tased if she didn’t stop.

After conducting several interviews, officers determined that Mesecher was the aggressor in the fight, and no other arrests were made.

She was booked at the Knox County Jail – where she continued to ignore officer’s commands and would require jail staff to assist in bringing her inside.

She would eventually vomit in a holding cell, prompting jail staff to call for GHAS to take her to Cottage Hospital – where she remained for several hours under observation.

Mesecher was charged with Resisting a Police officer, criminal damage to government property, and disorderly conduct.
