No shortage of Holiday fun this Christmas weekend.

Your Christmas weekend is here, and there’s plenty to see and do to help fill up the rest of your schedule.

A free cantata presentation at the Kensington Ballroom gets underway Friday, December 23rd at 7:00pm. Entitled, “Corrie ten Boom’s Christmas Memories” the cantata features a story of a Christian woman’s struggles and triumphs during her stay in World War II concentration camp Ravensbruck. The show is presented by Harmony Baptist Church Choir and Drama and is free and open to the public – light refreshments will be served.

The Orpheum Theatre’s Red Carpet Series presentation of “A Christmas Carol” Radio Play takes to the stage and airwaves Friday and Saturday starting at 7:30pm each night. Visit the Orpheum Theatre Box Office or online for tickets – starting at $10.

The Historic Ellisville Restoration Organization’s Second Annual Christmas Ball will be held at the Ellisville Opera House Saturday from 7:30 to 10:00 PM. After large amounts of positive feedback from last year’s event, H.E.R.O. agreed to host the Christmas Ball again this year.

A live band will perform swing music throughout the evening. Admission is $5.00 per person with a family admission of $20.00. The Opera House is located on Main Street in Ellisville. A Christmas Eve service at Community Bible Church of Knoxville will feature two Christmas services to cater to your family traditions. Early birds can attend the 10:30am service on Sunday and night owls can catch the candlelight service Sunday night at 9:00pm. Community Bible Church is located on Highway 8 just south of Knoxville.

If a Christmas Day service fits your family tradition – a visit to Bishop Hill may fit nicely. A traditional Swedish Julotta service will begin Christmas morning Monday at 6:00am at the Bishop Hill State Historic Site. The service which has been held annually for nearly 50 years, will be held at the restored Colony Church – originally built in 1848 by Swedish pioneers. The Colony Church is not heated – attendees should dress warmly. The church is located at 101 Maiden Lane in Bishop Hill.
