On Monday night the District 205 Board of Education approved the 2017 tax levy of nearly $19M dollars.
With the estimated increased equalized assessment value of 2-point-67 percent, the district is expecting about $357K of new money.
The board approved the tax levy 6-1, with board member Wayne Statham being the lone dissenting vote.
The board also continued discussion of videotaping or live streaming board meetings.
District Technology Curriculum and Professional Development Coordinator Matt Jacobson informed the board of some hurdles in getting the live stream to function but told the board recording it was working already, adding that it takes about 20 minutes to upload a three hour board meeting.
Board members advised Jacobson that while live streaming would be a great addition, the biggest concern was getting the recordings online for the public to view them.
The board held discussion on several other subjects including the non-fraternization policy, and substitute teacher compensation increases.
Superintendent Dr. John Asplund also brought up the data acquired from the community engagement meetings.
He said that the Heart and Soul data was going to be compiled to it as well, to give them a better understanding of the needs in the district.
