The Galesburg City Council could approve a bid tonight to overhaul the Public Safety Building.
City staff are recommending CAD Construction Inc. out of Tremont, IL’s bid be accepted for $418,000.
The project includes remodeling the lobby area to increase safety for front desk workers, redoing locker rooms considering current officer equipment and staffing levels as well as moving the weight room to the top level to allow for the locker room reconfiguration.
Also alderman could finalize a resolution to combine the departments of planning and public works.
Council documents say this just revises city code to reflect the current organizational structure.
Before alderman also is an engineering agreement with Hanson Professional Services to do a traffic study and prepare plans to improve the corner of Broad Street and Carl Sandburg Drive.
Documents say development in the town’s northeast corner has increased congestion at the intersection.
