And here’s what Juniper had to say about Mrs Jordan:

What sets this teacher apart from others? Mrs Jordan is different from all the other teachers because she is very hands-on. What I mean by “hands-on” is that whenever we
are learning about something like the planets, she gets models to show us the model, which helps me understand the concept better. An example is when she did a star project, she got star light bulbs, turned off the lights in the classroom, and spread the star light bulbs far apart. Then she told us to look from the starting point (Earth) and then look at which star appears brightest because of how far away we are from it. Since I love hands-on projects, this helped me a lot. This is whey I think that Mrs Jordan is different from many other teachers in her approach to teaching.

What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child? I love Mrs Jordan because she always says ” I couldn’t sleep last night”. To most people, it would sound simply like “I couldn’t sleep last night”, but to our class, it sounds like “I couldn’t sleep last night, so I wrote you guys a song to help you study for an upcoming test”. Mrs Jordan writes our class a song. She doesn’t have to do it, but she thinks it’s the best way to study before a test. The first song that Mrs. Jordan wrote was about matter and the latest song that she wrote was about the Moon and the tunes are quite catchy. I love these songs and they just keep me moving, but most of all, that is what Mrs Jordan does, and it helps our class to enjoy learning.

Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child? Mrs Jordan has helped me through 5th grade with her humor, and projects, and with songs. Mrs Jordan impacted me because she is supportive. Even if I get a problem wrong, she is there to guide me through the process of problem solving. She lets me know that my opinion matters, and that just keeps me going. She is easy to talk to. Mrs. Jordan is an amazing teacher, and that is how she has impacted me to be a better person in the classroom, and in life. I believe Mrs Jordan has earned the Big Red Apple Award.

As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Julie receives the Big Red Apple Award, a $100 gift card, and balloons. Honoring teachers who make a difference with the Big Red Apple Award from Galesburg Nissan, Tompkins State Bank, Lacky Monuments, Casey’s Party Creations and 105.3 KFM.
