Colchester man arrested for attempted murder

A McDonough County man has been arrested on three counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated domestic battery.

According to the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department, 54-year-old Tommy E. Rowland was apprehended in rural Colmar, in the southern portion of the county, on a warrant.

Sheriff Nick Petitgout says that in the early morning hours of June 18th, Rowland was involved in a domestic incident in which he allegedly battered and choked a female victim in his residence.

Deputies and troopers arrived on the scene after Roland fled. The victim required extensive medical attention, according to the sheriff’s department.

Assisting the deputies were the Illinois State Police, U.S. Marshall’s Service, and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
