Bullet fragments and casings recovered after Sunday shots fired all

A shots fired call resulted in Galesburg Police officers descending on the intersection of Michigan Avenue and E. Knox Street early Sunday morning.

At 1:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection where witness informed them that two black males, believed to be in their 20s, wearing black hooded-clothing were seen running after several shots were fired.

According to reports, one witness came forward saying he had heard about five shots followed by squealing tires before seeing a dark colored sports utility vehicle head south on Michigan Avenue.

Another witness told police he had chased and made contact with one of the subjects while they were running north behind a row of apartments of Iowa Avenue housing.

Two juveniles in the area said they had seen two black males wearing all black standing in the Iowa Court circle a few minutes before the shooting.

Officers canvassed the area to which they found several casings from two different calibers of firearms near the intersection, four 9mm, and three .38 .

No arrests have been made, but the investigation continues.
