The Knox County Board will consider approving several items, ranging from IT upgrades to purchasing replacement vehicles for a couple of departments.
The purchase of a new vehicle for Coroner Mark Thomas, as well as consider approving a bid and bring back for a new dump truck for the Landfill.
The county’s finance committee approved a maximum budget for the vehicle purchase at last week’s committee meeting.
Board documents indicate that the replacement vehicle will cost the county a total of $36,898.16 – that is roughly $12,000 less than what the finance committee approved as a maximum budget for the coroner.
Board members will also consider the recommendation to approve a bid and bring back to replace a landfill dump truck, with a budget of $200,000.
The county would pay for the new tandem dump truck out of the Equipment Replacement line item in the fiscal year 2018 budget – that fund currently has a balance of $249,000.
Also up for approval is the purchase of three 20-yard, rectangular, open top, roll off containers and the purchase of a 2-year extended warranty for a Caterpillar bulldozer.
The finance committee approved a bid for server storage space and for replacing the nursing home’s wireless network infrastructure earlier in the month – and those items now go before the full board.
The proposal for the server replacement and upgrade would be $60,355, and would keep the county in compliance with the the latest versions of Microsoft Windows Server software.
The nursing home wireless infrastructure upgrade will cost the county $14,630.10 if approved tonight. It was discussed that the installation of both would be by the county’s IT Department, saving on labor costs.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Galesburg City Council chambers.
