Duplex burglary results in a theft of over $3,000 in items

Over $3,000 worth of items were taken from a duplex in Galesburg on Monday.

Police offices were dispatched to the 900 block of North Prairie Street in reference to a reported residential burglary that may have occurred sometime between noon and 2 P-M.

According to police reports the resident in one half of the duplex informed officers that he had various hand tools and a battery powered hand drill were taken from a mud room at the back of his house.

He also informed officers that the power to his residence appeared to have been cut because his security system had been reset.

He also told officers that it appeared the burglar had tried gaining entrance to the rest of his place by kicking a door, but was unsuccessful.

The residents in the other half of the duplex told officers that an $800 55-inch television, various pieces of jewelry were taken, as was their home security cameras and server.
