Huge amount of events planned during 46th Annual Stearman Fly-In

The 46th Annual National Stearman Fly-In is touching down in Galesburg on Monday, September 4th through next Saturday, September 9th.

Each day of the Fly-In features family-friendly events throughout the entire day. Diane Stickel is President of the Stearman Fly-In, and has been involved with the event for about 15 years. She tells WGIL the calendar is stocked-full of daily attractions, shows, and programs. Stickel says, “We have six days of contests and seminars, programs, and fly-outs to other airports for lunch. And we fly over the Galesburg Labor Day Parade and the Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade. So you should see a lot of airplanes in the air, if the weather holds.” Other fly-outs during the event includes the 44th Annual Hog Days in Kewanee on Monday, The Gen-Air Park in Geneseo on Thursday, and the South East Iowa Regional Airport in Burlington on Saturday. Each day of the Fly-In will feature narrated tram-ride tours through the Galesburg Municipal Airport for a dollar. Thursday through Saturday next week will feature Stearman aerobatic contests, spot-landing contests, and formation flying contests.
