After a fire took away Jimmy’s Pizza on Tuesday night, the owners vow to rebuild it as soon as possible.
Deb McCormick says that there were a lot of memories in that building, remembering when she was pregnant with her daughter while working at the establishment.
McCormick recalled the events leading up to the evacuation of the pizzeria to WGIL.
“We smelt something but there’s always something burning outside, so we checked outside, didn’t really see a whole bunch and just thought, ‘oh it’s just somebody burning trash or something down the street,” McCormick says.
She said they noticed some activity near the electrical panels in the kitchen and before too long a fire broke out and spread into the ceiling. Her gut reaction was to run out into the dining area and get the patrons and staff out of the building.
She says they plan to rebuild as soon as possible, saying she “one of those kind of people that would like it done yesterday.”
