Driver killed in Friday crash on U.S. 150 identified as Knoxville teen

The name of the driver killed in Friday afternoon’s crash outside of Knoxville has been released. 

Nineteen-year-old Sirana Johnston of Knoxville is the deceased, according to Knox County Coroner Mark Thomas.

Johnston was killed after her Chrysler Sebring crashed into a dump truck at the intersection of U.S. 150 and Illinois 97.

A passenger in the Sebring was taken by Life Flight to Peoria. The individual’s identity and injury status remains unknown, as Illinois State Police have not released secondary information.

The driver of the dump truck was treated and released at the scene without serious injury.

That crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the afternoon and the intersection the intersection remained closed until about 6 p.m. Friday for reconstruction.

ISP was assisted at the scene by multiple agencies including the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, coroner and others.
