Galesburg man sentenced to 41 years for sexual assault

A Knox County judge has sentenced a Galesburg man to 41 years in prison for sexual assault and child pornography charges.

Court records show 44-year-old Bobby Jo Jenkins was sentenced to a combined 35 years for five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and six years for aggravated possession of child porn.

Judge Paul Mangieri found Jenkins guilty in February and handed out the sentence yesterday.

The sexual assault charges are Class X felonies worth a maximum of 60 years apiece. The child porn charge carried up to 30 years.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department says Jenkins was arrested last May following a two-week investigation into allegations that the suspect had sexual contact with a young girl. Child pornography was discovered at the scene.

Court documents show the victim was eight years old at the time.

Jenkins was represented by Moline Attorney Daniel Dalton.
