November 2014 Teacher of The Month – Ellen Rush

105.3 KFM congratulates Ellen Rush, a 4th grade teacher at Gale elementary school in Galesburg , November’s  KFM Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Rush was nominated by Maria Shipp and this is what she had to say about Ellen:

One way they go above and beyond:  She goes out of her way to help keep busy parents on track by sending texts, emails, and newsletters home on whats going on in the classroom or when their is extracuricular clubs after school. She has a kind heart and a warm inviting smile everyday she comes into the classroom or when we see her at recess duty. It is very obvious she loves what she does. She welocomes parent involvement in the classroom and at home and it is comforting to be able to have a day off and know you are welcome in her classroom.

Example of how this teacher has helped: Maria has always put her teacher on a pedistal as if she was one of the most important people in her life and loves to hug her teacher and not be afraid to ask questions for she would be in trouble for not knowing. Mrs Rush has given this back to Maria this year and we are so greatful she has a warm and loving teacher that encourages the kids to ask questions and  feel confident in themselves. She encourages self esteem, and respect for others in her classroom. We are happy she represents our Gale school teachers and is such a positive reflection of what a GREAT TEACHER is. Mrs. Jeanette Shipp

What sets this teacher apart: Mrs. Rush deserve teach of the month because she give great hugs, always has a
smile on her face when she sees us in the morning. She never gets mad at us when we make a mistake. She always encourages us to do our very best and makes learning alot of fun. I am so lucky this year to have her because I know she loves teaching and loves all of us. And it was her birthday on Thursday so she deserves the big red apple award.

As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Ellen receives a $100 gift card from Tompkins State Bank, a balloon bouquet from Casey’s Party Creations, and the Big Red Apple Award courtesy of Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM Today’s Refreshing Light Rock!
