March 2015 KFM Teacher of the Month: Tina Blust

2015-3-ToM-Tina-Blust

Congratulations to March’s KFM Teacher of the Month – Tina Blust – a 7th grade teacher at Churchill Junior High in Galesburg. Tina was nominated by Janine Glass and this is what Janine had to say about Tina:

She is available both before and after school to students who need help with their math assignments; this availability to students is not shared by all teachers, and is much appreciated for a subject such as math.

When my son was having difficulty with some of the math concepts, she went out of her way to assist him in understanding the problems, and gave him the answers to the practice questions to make sure he could no only come up with the right answer, but also work the problems correctly.

Mrs. Blust is very involved with her students; she is advisor for student council and puts in countless hours with the students at meetings, dances, and other activities; she accompanies the student council members to seminars and educational offerings out of town as well; she is the girls’ volleyball coach; she is advisor for IMSA math fusion; her commitment to her students and her involvement in extracurricular activites should be commended and acknowledged.

As as Teacher of the Month, Tina receives the Big Red Apple Award with her name engraved on it courtsey of Lacky Monuments, a $100 gift card from Tompkins State Bank, and a balloons and a gift card from Casey’s Party Creations.  Congratulations Tina!
