Carl Sandburg State Historic Site presents rock & roll trio DRY
Saturday, March 26, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$5The rock trio DRY will unplug on March 26 for an acoustic performance in the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site’s “Songbag” concert series. DRY plays its own songs as well as covers ranging from the Beatles to AC/DC to Green Day.
The March 26 concert takes place in the Sandburg site’s barn at 313 E. Third Street, Galesburg. The show starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 with a break for refreshments around 8. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
The members of DRY are Sean Kistler (vocals/guitar), Jim Morgan (bass) and Brandon Merry (drums). DRY was founded in 1995, and this line-up has been together since 1998. Visit www.dryband.com for more information. DRY is known for live performances filled with lots of rock & roll energy and improvisation. This unplugged performance may lower the volume but not the fun.
The concert is sponsored by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association. The next Songbag concert takes place April 30 and features the Celtic music of the Roundstone Buskers.
Carl Sandburg was a collector and performer of America’s folk songs. The series is named in honor of Sandburg’s book “The American Songbag,” published in 1927.
The Carl Sandburg State Historic Site includes the home where the famed poet and biographer was born. For more information, visit www.sandburg.org.
