Bond set for two individuals in robbery, and beating

Bond was set at $50,000 for two individuals Monday afternoon in Knox County Circuit Court for felony charges of robbery and theft.

21-year-old Keelee M. Drake of Galesburg and 32-year-old Darryl L. Love of Bolingbrook made video appearances with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh who appointed the public defender’s office to represent them in their cases.

According to Galesburg Police reports, officers were dispatched to Cottage Hospital where a 21-year-old man had been beaten in an alleged attack. He told officers that he had taken a cab to Kimberly Terrace on September 24th to pick up Drake for dinner.

He told officers that he and Drake had been friends for years. When he entered Drake’s residence two black subjects came out of a room and attacked him. In the process of being attacked his wallet with around $800 in cash, cell phone, and Ray-Ban glasses were taken.

During the attack, he told officers that there were three pit bulls in the residence and one of them bit his face.

He was able to identify one of the subjects as Love.

The cab drivers observed and corroborated part of his story, adding that Drake had exited the residence to tell the driver to leave even though the victim had paid for a round-trip.

Preliminary hearings for the alleged are scheduled for October 16th.
