Here’s what Jess had to say about Michelle:
What sets this teacher apart from others?
My son, Colton, had Mrs. Sunderland for his first grade teacher (he’s in second now). And she was constantly coming up with fun ways to keeps the kids engaged and excited about learning. He was always looking forward to getting up and going to school each morning. She also kept parents in the loop daily with the activities students were doing in class with pictures, messages, and notes. She made learning fun for him and his friends.
What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?
She attended both soccer and baseball that happened on weekends and over summer break to watch her students and visit with them
Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child. My son had a rough time adjusting to second grade and moving on without having Mrs. Sunderland as his teacher this school year. She would make sure to check in on him to see that he was doing okay, and still checks on even though were coming up on the school year and he will soon be in third grade. The positive impact she has made on him just by caring about his wellbeing has had a lasting impression on my kiddo.
Congratulations Michelle Sunderland, May’s KFM Teacher of the Month, from Nissan of Galesburg, Tompkins State Bank, Cooks-n-Company, Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM
