105.3 KFM along with Nissan of Galesburg congratulates January’s KFM Teacher of the Month — Heather Patterson — an 12th grade teacher at Galesburg High School. Heather was nominated by Emma Allen, a student in her class. As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Heather receives the Big Red Apple Award with her name engraved on it from Lacky Monuments along with a $100 gift card from Tompkins State Bank and a bouquet from Cooks-N-Company. Here’s what Emma had to say about Heather:
What sets this teacher apart from others?
Mrs. Patterson goes out of her way to support her students. She bought my little brothers cap & gown for graduation because she knew our financial situation isn’t the best. I know she’s purchased another students cap and gown for them as well. She provides a safe, love filled space in her classroom for everyone. She constantly checks up on her students to make sure they are doing well, physically and emotionally.
What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?
She spends her own hard earned money to better her students lives in any way she can. She also makes it a point so have one on one discussions with students to ensure they are doing okay, because she just genuinely cares that much.
Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child.
My little brother is graduating early because of her support. She has pushed him to his fullest potential and rooted for him the whole time. She’s helped him figure out the steps he needed to take as well as gave him the motivation to do so.
Congratulations Heather Patterson, January’s KFM Teacher of the Month, from Nissan of Galesburg, Tompkins State Bank, Cooks-n-Company, Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM
