The latest KFM Teacher of the Month is Danielle Cano, a 2nd grade teacher at King Elementary in Galesburg. Danielle was nominated by Jamie Painter, whose child is a student in Danielle’s class. As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Danielle receives the Big Red Apple Award along with a $100 gift card and other gifts courtesy of Galesburg Nissan, Tompkins State Bank, Lacky Monuments, Cooks & Company, and 105.3 KFM. Where did you grow up? East Coast around Seattle
Years teaching: 6. – She also coaches track at the high school.
Favorite part of teaching: I love math. I love to see kids understanding the concept of numbers. I also love introducing the kids to new books.

What sets this teacher apart from others?
Miss Cano always has so much enthusiasm when teaching her kiddos. She always comes to meets with a smile and an outstanding attitude. She gets the kids so involved with the constraints of being on a computer and not in person. She makes learning educational and fun!
What is one thing this teacher does that is not in his/her job description but he/she does it anyway to help you or your child?
Miss Cano is always available to answer questions and concerns. It can be 8 pm at night and she will respond, putting her students before herself and family!
Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child.
My child has had tremendous growth in Math and Reading despite school being in E-learning format at this time. My child is always excited to learn and participate and Miss Cano pulls her students into learning and also makes it fun for them!
