Several drug finds over the Labor Day weekend

Knox County K9 units had a busy Labor Day weekend.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, over the holiday weekend, the sheriff’s department was assisted by the Galesburg Police Department on three illegal narcotics investigations.

The sheriff’s office says that in total, the department seized methamphetamine, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), 12 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and around 28 pounds of cannabis.

The department says that on Saturday, deputies were assisted by K9 Glock and intercepted a package containing approximately 2,930 grams of cannabis.

On Sunday, the sheriff’s office says that deputies and GPD officers, along with K9 Glock, located luggage at the AMTRAK station. Further investigation led to the discovery of two plastic containers of LSD, a gram of methamphetamine, a bag with the psilocybin mushrooms, and around 125 grams of cannabis.

Both of those cases remain under investigation.

Then on Monday, deputies and Galesburg officers were assisted by K9 Juri at the AMTRAK station. There, a short foot pursuit ensued with 54-year-old Jabari M. Lynn of Green Acres, Florida. He was apprehended and found to have about five pounds of cannabis in a backpack on him and another 16.5 pounds in a suitcase left behind at the AMTRAK station with his name on his luggage.

Lynn is being detained at the Knox County Jail with a bond set at $100,000 and a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold.

He is charged with Cannabis Trafficking, Manufacturing/Delivery of Cannabis, and Resisting a Police Officer.
