District 205 to have re-opening update by next month

With yesterday’s news that guidelines have been released to help get students back into classrooms in the fall, what does that mean for District 205?

At this point, they don’t know. The 60-page document was released to school districts at the same time as it was released to the public so at this point Superintendent Dr. John Asplund says they don’t have all the answers to those questions.

In a letter to the families of the district, he asks for patience as the staff pours through the guidance and implements the suggestions into the district’s own transition plan.

He says that they will communicate with families and staff about what to expect for the next school year and will share an update on July 24.

Some elements of the governor’s plan include limiting gatherings to 50 individuals in one space and social distancing whenever possible. Additionally, personal protective equipment and face coverings will be a must.

A previous version of this story said that District 205 would have an update by Friday. The actual date given for an update is Friday, July 24 and this story has been updated to reflect that correction.
