Knoxville to reopen some city buildings – approved outdoor dining parameters

The Knoxville City Council met virtually on Monday, June 1st. Given state restrictions on no more than ten people gathering together – the next city council meeting this month will also be held virtually. The Council discussed at length the reopening of city buildings. “I know this would help a great deal if we had City Hall open again because we could get the wheel tax sticker issue taken care of,” Mayor Dennis Maurer said. “It’s my understanding (that) the cards have just been printed up recently and are ready to go into the mail. And of course the pet tags, they’re available for the public to pick up as well.” Plexiglass barriers have been installed at City Hall – but a limit to no more than two people at a time will be allowed in given social distancing restrictions. The history museum and other historic sites in Knoxville are set to reopen. The Library board of trustees hosted a public meeting on June 2nd to discuss the reopening plans for the library. Aldermen also approved a resolution last night on the outdoor dining parameters. To view the resolution, CLICK HERE.
