OSF Healthcare launches COVID-19 risk tool

OSF Healthcare has launched a brand new digital tool intended to help keep people decide whether or not they need to go to the hospital. CLARE is a new digital assistant at OSF Healthcare.org that will chat with visitors and ask them questions to determine their risk for COVID-19 and determine whether or not they should go to the hospital. “We wanted to provide a digital solution,” said Abby Lotz, Vice President of Digital Care at OSF Healthcare. “We felt that having something at everyone’s fingertips 24 hours a day was really going to answer the growing concern and interest in our community. We are encouraging people to use the digital route first if they have questions or want resources or even if they just want screening if they’re concerned they show signs or symptoms.” The goal is to encourage those who think they have COVID-19 to check with CLARE first to determine if they really need to go to the hospital or not. CLARE can also be used as a virtual assistant for other types of diagnoses as well, again with the goal of keeping those who don’t need to go to the hospital from over-crowding the local hospitals.
