ROWVA support staff and board still at odds over pay

The support staff union for ROWVA District 208 is still without a collective bargaining agreement after a Wednesday session with a federal mediator.

The ROWVA Support Education Association rejected the board’s offer of an average 7 percent raise per year for three years according to a release from the 208 Board.

But chief negotiator for the ROWVA Support Education Association Laura Danner says only the union made any offers but all were flatly rejected.

Board Vice President Scott Lake says in a press release that the union’s offer Tuesday night did not show significant movement on their part, accusing them of stalling the process.

Emails seeking further comment from Lake have not been returned.

At this time no further mediation sessions are scheduled as the Board considers whether to begin the public posting period.

That would require both sides to make their best offer public.

Danner says the board has made offers with substantial pay increases, the union is opposed to removing language from the contract with mandates that their members will receive increases in line with state minimum wage increases.
