One dead in McDonough Co. traffic accident

One man has died after a traffic collision Saturday night in rural McDonough County.

According to the Illinois State Police, 74-year-old Edwin Grisham of Blandinsville was fatally injured as a result of his vehicle overturning, ejecting him.

The accident happened around 9:21 in the area of 350 East, about a half-mile north of the 950 North intersection — North of Tennessee, Illinois.

ISP says that Grisham was traveling northbound when his vehicle ran off the east side of the roadway and struck an embankment. Additionally, state police say Grisham was not wearing his seat belt.

Assisting ISP were the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, Colchester Police Department, Blandinsville Police Department, Colchester Fire Protection District, Life Guard Ambulance, Air Evac 144, McDonough County Coroner, and Weaver Automotive and Towing.
