Back for its 15th year, August 16th is the River 2 River Car Cruise in downtown Galesburg. Beginning Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm Main Street from West to Seminary will be closed off and filled with classic and antique cars, trucks, motorcycles and more. The event is organized by the New Limited Rods of Western Illinois and will last until 10:00 pm. “We try to change things up a little bit and give people more things to look at and do,” said organizer Pam Bowles. “We like to see it grow. There are a lot of people out there that have incredible building ability. They build some of the greatest looking cars, motorcycles, and trucks… There’ll be a lot of things to do.” The event includes a Poker Walk with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. For a $5 donation, the first 200 registrants receive a goody bag with a dash plaque and will draw a poker chip for a door prize. The day also features food vendors and a 50/50 drawing – where last year $1,200 was given out. There will be raffles for a grill from Lowe’s and overnight stays at Holiday Inn and Baymont Inn. The event is free, and anyone interested in showing a car can simply show up and get parked.
