Knox County Fair announces Craig Morgan as grandstand headliner

It was announced Monday morning on FM95 that music will be coming back to the grandstand at the Knox County Fair this summer.

Country artist Craig Morgan will headline on Thursday, July 11, with Bloomington-Normal based band, Brushville as the opening act.

Morgan has had a number of hits charting on the country charts, especially in the early 2000’s with songs like “Redneck Yacht Club”, “Little Bit of Life” and “That’s What I Love About Sundays.”

Ty Landon on the Fair Board says they’re taking a major risk by booking such a big name but were able to do so with the help of sponsorships.

While the Knox County Fair hasn’t had music in the grandstand since 2002, previously they hosted Alabama, Marshall Tucker Band and Charlie Daniels.

“It just got to the point where we were competing on the exact same days as the Mississippi Valley Fair,” Landon says. “They were getting major stadium-touring acts coming through their fair, and we were on the exact same dates.”

Craig Morgan tickets are on sale now, $20 for general admission and $30 for standing room on the track.
