April consolidated election filings opens today

Those seeking to sit on area city councils, school boards, or various township positions can begin filing the necessary paperwork to run on the ballot in the April consolidated election today.

Galesburg City Council will have expiring terms for the first, third, fifth, and seventh wards. Paperwork has been filed for Russell Fleming to run again, and Angela Bastian and Peter Schwartzman have confirmed to WGIL that they are running again in 2019. Jeremy Karlin told WGIL in an email that he was not running for re-election.

Several terms for seats on area school boards will also be expiring in the next year.

In District 205 Board members Tianna Cervantez, Wayne Statham, Jean Ann Glasnovich, and Amy Pickrel have expiring terms. Statham has confirmed to WGIL that he is not filing for re-election.
