$200,000 bond for man on stolen vehicle charges

A Galesburg man is facing a slew of felony charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle and forgery, stemming from a Friday arrest.

24-year-old Kyle A. Millikin made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh on Monday afternoon. Bond was set over the weekend at $200,000. Judge Cavanaugh appointed the public defender to represent Millikin in this case.

He faces multiple charges related to the theft of a truck from Springfield and the cashing of an alleged forged check.

Police reports indicate the stolen truck was involved in several police pursuits on Friday. Eventually, it crashed and Millikin was arrested. Additionally, officers received a complaint that a forged check, written out to Millikin, was cashed.

In court, Judge Cavanaugh indicated that Millikin was out on parole and he was extended term eligible. So if he is convicted of possession of a stolen vehicle, a Class 2 Felony, he could be sentenced to 7 to 14 years in the Department of Corrections.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for December 17th.
