28-year-old stabbed following alleged fight

CORRECTED TO REFLECT THE CORRECT AGE OF THE ALLEGED VICTIM.  Galesburg police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Tuesday night.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the 100-block of Arthur Avenue where GHAS was tending to a 28-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds at 10:58 p.m. .

Witnesses told police that they the victim had allegedly been involved in a fight behind Cherry Street Restaurant and Bar. He told officers that the two individuals were involved in an argument before the fight, and at some point during it a knife was pulled and the 19-year-old was struck several times.

Another witness told police that the victim was picked up from Cherry Street and advised he did not want to be taken to the hospital, so they drove back to the residence on Arthur.

The condition of the teenager is unknown at this time, but reports seem to indicate that the wounds were not life-threatening.

Police reports note that officers went to the bar to look at surveillance footage, and as of 10:00 a.m. Wednesday no arrests have been made.
