OSF Holy Family welcomes new ophthalmologist, requests community input

OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth is getting a new ophthalmologist. 

According to a press release from OSF HealthCare, Dr. Carlton Fenzl will be performing cataract procedures in the Maple City.

Fenzl specializes in cataract surgery, cornea and external eye disease, corneal transplants and refractive surgery.

He attended the University of Utah Moran Eye Center and received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine.

Fenzl also works in Rock Island at Eye Surgeons Associates.

This comes on the heels of the announcement that community input on determining and prioritizing healthcare needs was available for Monmouth residents.

According to a the healthcare provider, every three years hospitals conduct community health needs assessment.

Data is collected and priorities are created to better support community-based health programs and services, as well as create new programs to meet needs.
