Knox County Nursing Home Administrator receives two months salary for severance

Knox County Nursing Home Administrator Rachel Secrist is receiving about $13,500 as a part of a severance package she agreed to with the Knox County Board last Wednesday. The Board voted 9-5 to approve an agreement that “terminated their employment relationship” with Secrist, which she signed.

According to the agreement obtained by WGIL through a Freedom of Information request, Secrist went on two weeks of paid administrative leave Friday July 27th and will stay on leave until Aug.10 when her employment is officially terminated.

Knox County will pay Secrist a lump sum of $10,897, equivalent of two months salary.

Adding that to the two weeks salary she will receive for her paid leave that amounts to nearly $13,500.

Per the agreement she’ll be available to the County throughout that period, even though Director of Nursing Donna Motz is acting as interim administrator.

Secrist and the County, as in board members, elected officials and staff, signed off an agreement to make no “disparaging or derogatory” remarks or statements about the other.

That may explain why Chairwoman Pam Davidson refused to answer questions on the agreement after last week’s meeting.
