A 39-year-old Galesburg man was arrested early Friday morning on weapons charges following a domestic dispute involving a sword.
According to police reports, Jason T. Snell was arrested for being a felon in possession of a weapon.
A complainant living with Snell in the 500-block of Liberty Street contacted police due to a domestic dispute involving a weapon.
The complainant told officers that Snell was intoxicated and being belligerent. When the complainant told him to calm down or he’d call the police, Snell allegedly brandished a 27″ sword.
Officers learned that Snell had a previous felony conviction and arrested him on the weapons charge.
He denied displaying or having possession of the sword during the incident, but reports indicate a similar occurrence happened on June 7th.
He was processed at the Knox County Jail and awaits a detention hearing in Knox County Circuit Court.
